GTX Gen II Trigger for B18/Crosman/Gamo and More!
by Ernest Isherwood Date Added: Saturday 19 May, 2018
Yes it works, don't know why I waited.....I have had my .22 Crosman Nitro Venom for about 3 years now and up until now have been fairly disappointed with it. I ran about a can of Premier pellets through it to "break it in" as everyone says to do gave it a cleaning but was still waiting for my groups to tighten up. Shooting prone, off a good rest was OK but anything else and it was pretty much good for making noise to scare the pests off. I am no great marksman but in the past I was an OK shot so this thing was a major frustration. I started using my fairly stock 1322 with a shoulder stock when I really wanted to hit something. I started realizing the trigger on the 1322 was far more consistent to use then the Nitro Venom and after some reading about fixes I ended up looking at this trigger. The stock trigger is built to be safe, not good, and for the makers and their lawyers that is a good thing, but in use it has no real "feel" at all just a long stiff pull to a "mystery" break point, not very good if you are shooting from the standing position with this fairly heavy rifle, at least not for me. As a last resort I purchased this trigger kit, did not want to spend the extra money but otherwise I would be trying to sell the gun to someone else as its just not for me. The installation is very simple takes about 5 min but as someone else mentioned, put some blue loc-tite on the adjust screws as they are likely to vibrate out of setting and that could be very, very bad. Also I was shocked at how loose the mounting screws in the stock were so put some loc-tite there too! The setup instructions are good and I did the basic set up out of the stock by putting some pressure on the sear with a tiny screwdriver to see where the break point was. After assembly it was just a matter of a quarter turn or so, first I made it a bit too light for my tastes then back to where it felt right, had it in about 4 shots. The difference is Amazing! The gun now has a real 2 stage trigger, a soft take up to a positive point then you just know a touch more and it is going to fire. To be honest it was a bit to get use to the new trigger feel as I was so use to the general lack of feel the old set up had. I also had to re zero my scope, as either it was never right or it had vibrated out of zero and I just did not notice because I was use to not hitting small targets anyway. So now I can actually make a decent group, consistently.... wow...seriously it is like a different rifle! I now like it and will be keeping it for what I bought it for. I am not interested in who says who stole who's design, This trigger works and that's all that needs to be said about the designs. Besides the other fellow sounds like a lot of sour grapes and won't even ship to Canada. I like to support good businesses like this one. I am not a big customer here but when I am needing airgun parts or supplies this is my first stop. Eric, I said I would write a review and there it is, sorry its a bit wordy!
